Another Month

This past month has almost been a blur.  It was sort of odd as I paid my 2 month rent today for my apartment.  I never realized how fast time would fly.  Regardless, this month I changed language schools and am now studying at Excel language school.  It's been a bit of a difference as now I have classes from 9 until 1 and all of my classes are private.  It works out much better because I have more hours and am able to learn a bit quicker in this setting.  My ability to converse is growing immensely.  I expect around 7 weeks more in school.

Last week I started a theology study for a group of young guys in Cusco who have the desire to teach, but need to be trained.  So we are meeting once a week to study the Scriptures and for me to teach them how to do the same for themselves.  The guys are so intrigued and pay attention to every single thing said.  The guys are learning solely with the intention to teach the material to others.  Not simply to soak up information, but to spread what they learn.  What a lesson we could learn from them.

This weekend our team had the opportunity to go to an orphanage to check it out.  We believe that we are going to have a great opportunity to help out on the weekends.  They have nearly 50 kids that are orphaned and need roughly 25 more sponsors to provide for each child.  For only $35 a month you can sponsor a child and through this you can work alongside me and provide a child with food, clothes, education, and the gospel.  If you are interested contact me or visit the website at www.icmweb.org

I ask that you continue in praying with me for the people of Peru.  Specific prayer requests include, that I might continue to learn Spanish, God's direction to where I need to go after I learn Spanish, and the young guys who I am teaching.  Also, my new Spanish teacher, Luis, that he might come to Christ as I continue to share the gospel with him in class.

  3. Jim,
I love your passion. I am really excited about hooking up with you and your circle of young Christians in Cusco. Ralph fair will be bringing a small group study written by a good friend of mine here in the San Antonio area called "The key to abundant living". This study is about allowing Christ to be your life, allowing God to be your source. You'll love it and I hope you can use it with your new circle of friends.
    Blessings,
