What God's Been Doing

Friends and Family,

I thank you so much for the constant support that you all have given me over the years.  It has been astounding to look back and see the number of people that have had a tremendous impact upon my life.  God has blessed me immensely with too many people to even count who have played a vital role helping lead me to where I am to day.  Honestly, without you I would have lacked tremendously in my development.

Moreover, as I look back it is stunning to see where and how God has brought me to this point and is continuing to lead me in my sanctification.  God is continuing to fulfill promise that, "He who began a good work in (me), would be faithful to complete it until the day of Christ Jesus" Philippians 1:6.  God has been so faithful to deliver me from my arrogance and lead me into humble submission.  It has truly been an honor to serve a Father, who loves His child enough to discipline him for the purpose of His glory and my joy.

I truly have not had any hint of an idea of where God has been leading me through this journey of life, but I can always see His guidance and grace along the way.  The journey of God's will in my life has always come in small developments, as He has allowed me to taste and see that He is good and that His plan is sufficient for my life.  He has led me directly towards His purposes, even as I resisted, He continued to bring me towards his calling.  A calling not just for ministry, but a calling of holiness.

The past few months I have had the blessing of being able to interim pastor at Beulah Anna Baptist Church.  God has really used this experience and call to guide me into who He desires for me to be and has used it as a time to really clarify His immediate direction in my life.

God has given me a heart and a desire for reaching the unreached peoples of the world and God has recently specified a desire that I have had for a long while.  As many of you may know, I have had the opportunity to serve in Peru through the Holmes Baptist Association and International Mission Board (IMB), to help in proclaiming the gospel to unreached people groups.

Now, God has led me to return to Peru to serve under the IMB in the southern region of Peru.  I will be fulfilling a 2 year commitment in Peru working for the IMB in planting churches in southern Peru by using a mission strategy called ReapSouth (http://www.reapsouth.org/).  The IMB believes that the most effective way to reach the world for Christ is through planting reproducing churches in areas where there is no church presence.

During the first 4 months in Peru I will be learning Spanish at a language school to be able to properly share the gospel in the native tongue of the people.  Then, after language school, my supervisor is going to be assigning me jobs of the greatest need in the country to continue to plant churches throughout Peru.  During this time, I will be working at a language institute to teach English to Peruvians (so that they can interpret for US missionaries), doing research throughout the country, and helping in planting reproducing churches throughout the country.

I would like to ask you to join in a partnership of prayer with me as I seek to serve God in Peru.  I have a few specific prayer needs:  that God would conform me to the individual that I need to be in serving Him, that I would be pliable in all situations, that I can learn Spanish, that I would adapt to the new culture, and that I can raise the necessary funds to live and serve Him.  If you would like to partner with me in prayer, send me a message on Facebook, an email to jameswells1988@yahoo.com, or comment on this blog.

Another way that you can join me in this mission is through financially supporting me while in Peru.  I trust that God is going to provide all of my needs financially and spiritually.  I would love for you to join in this endeavor in giving as an act of worship towards God through supporting world missions.  If you would like to give, I have set up an account at First Baptist Church Bonifay.  You can give directly to the account set up for me there.  If you use a check just specify that it is going towards my mission in Peru.  The address to FBC Bonifay is:

311 North Waukesha Street
Bonifay, FL 32425-2229
(850) 547-2420

I thank you so much for your support and encouragement through the years and I pray that you would continue supporting me as I seek to glorify God and pronounce the gospel "to the ends of the earth."  I will continue to use this blog to give you updates on what is going on and specific prayer requests along the way.  Thank You!!!
